The Dark Knight watches over Gotham City

I have been waiting for this movie ‘The Dark Knight‘ anxiously for over 7 months now. I wasn’t jumping up and down at first last year, but after seeing the trailer and being pleasantly surprised that the Joker was to act by Heath Ledger. I was eagerly waiting for the countdown… and even more so because this is the last movie the late Heath acted in. The man was a fantastic actor and this movie just proves how much of an actor he is.

It did not disappoint me at all!

Spectacular acting, visuals, cinematography, soundtrack and overall storyline.

I was hooked to my chair and with brief moments cringe at certain scenes from the film, which I’m glad did not turn gruesome. How shall i even begin..

Ok brief synopsis, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) is trying to rid the city of bad people and he’s not alone. You see a deeper character of the Batman in this film, which portrays more of his troubles and problems of being a ’superhero’. A bit like how Spidey had his issue at first. We find that Batman is torn in the manners of how he has to capture criminals. He wants to make a difference, just that it requires sacrifices. Sacrifices which he himself is doubtful whether they are worth it.

Alfred ever so watchful over his master and ever the smart alec with the sharp tongue :)
Who would’ve thought that our god father from Harry Potter is such a wonderful commisioner

Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) is trying to do the same, but there is a new player of good in town, name Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) who is Gotham’s District Attorney. Harvey is the white knight everyone is looking to as he has placed a number of baddies in a cell. Bruce aka Batman is really appreciative of that and teams up with alongside Gordan. Eckhart pulled of the ‘hero’ character well at the beginning, but didn’t fail to leave bread trails of his behaviour possible changing..

“You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself turn into the villian.”

My favourite line of the night.

All the while, Bruce is actually trying to impress Dent’s girlfriend, Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) a new comer to the show. I’m really really glad they did’t put Katie Holmes (i know i sound bad) but I don’t she can cut the character quite as much as Maggie. Whom I think did a wonderful job of being a strong headed woman, however not much can be said because while her character was very important for the turn of events. The crux of the film was still drawn towards the men.

Maggie was a real treat to watch, I'm really glad she didn't play the whiny girl but the strong head on type.

The Joker.. madder than what one would think.. He's complete sinister

Mean while in the dirty underworld, the Joker (Heath Ledger) has made a deal with mob that he will get rid of Batman provided the mob pays him half of their entire mountain of money which has been kept somewhere safely by a Hong Kong accountant, Lau (Chin Han) - whom in my opinion was too smart for his own good. So basically you have the mob and the Joker on one side, up against Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent. Not to mention with people like Bruce’s butler, Alfred (Michael Caine) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) to help as well.

Quite a number of stunning actors we have ranging from Academy Award and Oscar nominees/winners.. phew! Christopher Nolan did a smashing job of portraying the second installment of the remake of the Batman series.

This is a relaly cool shot. Heheh The Dark Director or Two Sided Director :P

I personally like the touch they have done to Dark Knight, as they have made it a lot more real, compared to the days of the Batman being acted out by Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer and George Clooney. Not dissing but this years Batman, was not as ‘comicky’ as the previous ones. Take for example Harvey Dent after he became Two face. His face was truly gruesome not like the one which was in Batman & Robin (1997). Pardon me for comparing. I don’t want to tell to much about the movie as it may spoil it for you. And this is the ONLY time ever I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen it!!

I love the movie and I’m probably going to watch it again on Saturday. :) Oh little note, i stuck all the way till the end of the credits.. it’s ok. You are safe to go off, because there wasn’t any sneak preview or special continuation after that that.

UPDATE: I wanna watch it on IMAX!!!!!
