Blogging, Just Me

Note: This was meant to be passworded.. but sigh.. just not working and it’s already out in the open.. so i’ll let it be.

I’m having those moments again, where i fear much about what I am doing now. Ever since i had yet my conversation with my father regarding performing arts yet again on how he thinks i should wake up and smell the coffee. Sigh even as I write it, it just causes me pangs of pain because i know there is someone out there who should support me is not giving me full support. I would like to think so that my mom does support me on this, and I am very grateful for it.

I’m rather just worried, because I can’t seem to see or rather hope to see where it can take me. Obviously I hope for a lot more but when will it come. Am I too eager? Am I just not being patient? At the moment now I’m heading towards theater, when in truth i would love to try screen. But maybe I’m not ready for it… or maybe I’m just not right for it.. maybe not now… maybe not ever…

Put it this way, the screen is all for those who have looks. They barely go to the one who is either average or just mediocre. I’m not saying i’m either, but i feel that way sometimes. I feel that I’m not good enough at all.. I’m not pretty enough, I worry too much on my weight, how big my arms are going to look, how wide my waist will look once they place i see my self on a plasma stretch tv.

I see my friends like Andrea Fonseka.. who I have no idea even remembers me from our days at Taylor’s, who is making it big now in the scene. I’m very happy for her, because she made it through the Miss Malaysia pageant. With a stream of bad results to finally being endorsed by Marie France and now she’s looking fab.

I’m being a pig and I’m not helping myself as much when it comes to my looks i suppose. I’m being all lazy, when i know i should be hitting the gym even more so now. Shit…. i just feel like crap. I don’t believe in those get slim quick ready methods because it just goes against what i believe in being healthy. Then again my lifestyle now is not exactly something that I will call superbly healthy either.

But that’s on my physical being.. why do i rant about it so much. It’s because i know that, the times i dont get a role is because i don’t have the look for it. Shit again.. i know that girls who have the looks, gain more attention and favoured way more, because others are trying to well goad them into being nice and then you can say hey i know a pretty thing.. I mean shit laa.. …

Greetings from Bubba Gump

Blogging, Food, Just Me

Do some of you remember the Character Bubba Gump in Forrest Gump the movie? I’ll be very honest in saying that I still have not watched the movie properly but I can tell you that Bubba Gump is from that movie and had a significant role. Anyways me, Min Li and Nick Dorian met up last friday at The Curve to try out the new Shrimp restaurant called Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Bufford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump, who was inspired to go into the shrimping business by Bubba.

So lets a have my review of that short experience. The place is located at the second floor of The Curve along The Walk.

The menu consists mostly of shrimp dishes, but also other seafood, as well as Southern and Cajun cuisine, due to the main character Forrest coming from Alabama. On the company’s menu, the company’s CEO says (quoting from the movie) that “shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried, there’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. Th-that’s about it.” - Wikipedia

The whole setup of Bubba Gump really reminded of my days eating out at Roadhouse Grill, which was a favourite place of mine till Chillies came about. What gave me the sense of deja vu was the bucket on the tables hehe.

Hehehe see that buckey there with the smiling shrimp - which reminds me of the mafia shrimps in a ‘Sharktale’ lol. Yeha I’m reminded by a lot of things. In Roadhouse Grill it’ll be filled with peanuts and after opening a shell you just throw it on the floor. Here at Bubba Gump, it has some toilet roll (tissue la) and i think ketchup in there. That Chain is hooked up to a pink pong bat which is yet another menu! So cool - don’t have a pic of it though :(

Moving on to the signs on the table. I love the concept of it. See when you want to call a waiter, you don’t do the usual kissy wissy noises you make at the mamak, or raise your hand and wave it about like a mad person. No.. you just flip the sign that says “Stop Forrest Stop”.

This is to tell waiters passing by “Oi, I need some service here” hehe. Then once you are done with whatever demands you request from the waiter, you flip over another sign that says…

img_0046

“Run Forrest Run”.

Just like in the movie when he was running away from the bullets. This sign means “Ok I’m done, you can move along now” ^_^ Sounds so patronizing in a way lol.

Originally i was flipping through the menu and came across the steak section and Nick flipped me back to the shrimp page immediately, stating. “You are at Bubba Gump.. you order SHRIMP!! not Steak!!!”

OK OK.. i’m sorry.. I was just looking… sheeeeshhhh ^_P

Nick had ordered some alcoholic drink which was called Malibu, Midori, Orange Juice. He ordered the drink because it had jap words in it.. hehehehe so cute.

and a dish with prawns on the side and rice, called I’m Stuffed Shrimp.

02

While Min Li and I shared a pasta … oooh yum. oh yeah it’s called Of Course We Have Scampi!“.

03

The prawns served in one dish goes on for ever.. oooh yeah!! You know how some people like to save their prawns at the side of plate, cause there are only like one or two in a serving? They’ll scoot it to one side and not touch it till the very end.. haha. Here you don’t have to do that haha, if not it’ll be overkill. That’s how many prawns there are in one dish.

I’d go back there again, but it was a tad bit pricey. Overall ambiance and food was good so me likey!!

Being Spotted

Blogging, In The News, friends

This is a bit of a late post, but this is a very worthy mention and I’m sorry for being late.

A while back I got an email from Pink Pau saying that aronil was one of the bloggers spotted in a Malay Mail article. This was news to my ears ^_^ The article was on blogging and how it has changed the life of a fellow blogger, Kulvinder Kaur, which some of you may know as Ohkulala. The title of the article was “The Chemistry of Bloggin” and it came out on June 2nd 2008.

You can read her full post here.

Thanks a lot for the mention in the article Kul!! :) I really appreciate it and who would’ve thought that if not for your blog, I would not have up again with Frankie from Queer Rant. At some point I thought the world was getting smaller, seems the blogosphere is just that too hehe.. in KL anyways :).

And it think it’s very true too, that we meet a lot more people via blogging. Some can turn to become our closest friends and some are a lot of fun to hang out with. Either way, I’m happy with how blogging has become another medium for making new friends and even getting back old friends. hehe.

Intense Debate

Blogging, social networking

I’m trying out a new comment system called Intense Debate Beta. I was actually going through a few sites and came across this option to add myself to Intense Debate when I was commenting on this blogger’s page. While I’m a blgger hat enjoys traffic stats going up every once in a while, but i like even more taking a look to see comments popping into my inbox. Cause that means I get to hear what others think. :)

So what does Intense debate look like?

instantdebate

and what does it do? Just like another commenting social network i tried which was SezWho and CoComment. Work the same but, what I just like about Intense Debate has to offer, which are the blogging tools, the easy import/export of comments between blog and your account.

The ability to track all your comments. Like which post has the most comments and this will give me a good idea to what the people out there like discussing on. Or rather what was appealing to read. I’m still with cocomment but after transferring my blog to here, i kinda stopped playing around with that so i’m gonna give it another try again. :) So here is me activating it Technorati Profile. Need to activate it via Technorati for cocomment.

Back on to Intense Debate.

Your dashboard will show all the latest comments and comments that need moderation. As well as the latest comments that you have posted on other people’s blogs.

instantdebate2

These are the ways you can track your comments.

instantdebate4

The other feature which i enjoy, is that my blog will get to be seen by other people. And whenever you comment, you can also rate not just the comment (like on Youtube’s comments) but check out the commenter and rate their skills in commenting. lol.

instantdebate3

So if you end up seeing something that makes you register for Intense Debate for the first time you comment, don’t panic. ^_^  If anything at all, do sign up. I think the commenting social network is starting to grow and this shall be a lot more helpful than just socialising via blogs.

Virtual Drama Be Gone

Blogging, My Honest Opinion, Thoughts

I did say i was tired..

But I am more tired about this. The whole nang and dang-ing issue on Nuffnang. I personally am a fan of Nuffnang and I always will be because of the people that I have met and know through this service. However what I am not a fan of at this point anymore, is how much drama is going on the blogosphere over who flamed who and who flamed for what. (Flaming in this sense if where one blogger sort of disses another blogger or something like that). It’s just one nasty retort to another.

BTW if one wants to even consider this a “flame” or “flam” or “phlegm” or “flim” or whatever to other bloggers, maybe I am. I’m just really tired. And I don’t care if people are going to be making some retort or no retort at all over this post. I really really can’t be bothered anymore.

Let me explain, Nuffnang has it’s own version of “digg” in a way, and when you click on a post in the Innit system, it automatically “nang” it for the post and if you didn’t like the post you can always “dang” it - in short Digg = Nang and Dang=Bury.

What’s happening here, is that we have bloggers who come up with interesting titles to their post. Maybe not all their titles will lead to interesting content and that’s fine. It happens. But what I can’t stand is how some people are so blardy immature when they see a post that is going up, they want to dang it.

What’s the matter with you???What your posts isn’t going up so? You wanna dang/bury other peoples? What good does that do?

Yeah sure while on one hand, it’s fun and a great read to see what “nastiness” is going on here in the virtual, but on another hand. I find it so DAMN immature! And I’m actually ticked about it, because they are going on and on about how oh something like this post is not meant to be on top like. I mean no disrespect but I’m just feel this whole flaming thing is so entirely lame! And people are making it into like a whole big fuss and thinking its what “cool”?

Probably some fellow bloggers won’t agree with me on this but it’s what I think on this whole…. THING!

Is this what blogging is about? To go ahead and “flame” others, rant on others to just hit back at them? I have never ever liked it when I read about one blogger blasting back at another blogger. There is already so much issues and drama going on in “real” life and now you wanna put it all here too? Come on! Enough! I’d even rather read about the humorous post on what you had for lunch or what stupid stuff you saw at work, than have to read on another raging, burning, flaming post.

If you don’t like a post or a blogger for that matter. Don’t read it/ their blog and in fact don’t even comment. Does one actually think that if you were to comment something nasty there will be any satisfaction? Maybe for that moment sure.

Oh and another thing. I am admitting that at one point I did look a lot at Innit, just to see if my post had gone up and sure there are times it didn’t. I accepted that and there is a very good reason that I don’t go to Innit as much anymore, because I’ve realised that its like an addiction to see stats go up. Almost like gambling. So unless I find there is a “cause” or an important message I want to share. I’ll put up something on Innit. If not… I just don’t find the joy of putting it up anymore… Forgive me on that… Cause I don’t want to be all naggy ranty about it and then asking help from others to “Nang” it..

Sigh…

I’m not saying there is a right way to blog, rather I just don’t want to have too see good friends get sucked into the whole blasting thing. That’s just my opinion and I really do like the bloggers who stick to their ethics or beliefs on blogging…
