Blogging, Just Me

Note: This was meant to be passworded.. but sigh.. just not working and it’s already out in the open.. so i’ll let it be.

I’m having those moments again, where i fear much about what I am doing now. Ever since i had yet my conversation with my father regarding performing arts yet again on how he thinks i should wake up and smell the coffee. Sigh even as I write it, it just causes me pangs of pain because i know there is someone out there who should support me is not giving me full support. I would like to think so that my mom does support me on this, and I am very grateful for it.

I’m rather just worried, because I can’t seem to see or rather hope to see where it can take me. Obviously I hope for a lot more but when will it come. Am I too eager? Am I just not being patient? At the moment now I’m heading towards theater, when in truth i would love to try screen. But maybe I’m not ready for it… or maybe I’m just not right for it.. maybe not now… maybe not ever…

Put it this way, the screen is all for those who have looks. They barely go to the one who is either average or just mediocre. I’m not saying i’m either, but i feel that way sometimes. I feel that I’m not good enough at all.. I’m not pretty enough, I worry too much on my weight, how big my arms are going to look, how wide my waist will look once they place i see my self on a plasma stretch tv.

I see my friends like Andrea Fonseka.. who I have no idea even remembers me from our days at Taylor’s, who is making it big now in the scene. I’m very happy for her, because she made it through the Miss Malaysia pageant. With a stream of bad results to finally being endorsed by Marie France and now she’s looking fab.

I’m being a pig and I’m not helping myself as much when it comes to my looks i suppose. I’m being all lazy, when i know i should be hitting the gym even more so now. Shit…. i just feel like crap. I don’t believe in those get slim quick ready methods because it just goes against what i believe in being healthy. Then again my lifestyle now is not exactly something that I will call superbly healthy either.

But that’s on my physical being.. why do i rant about it so much. It’s because i know that, the times i dont get a role is because i don’t have the look for it. Shit again.. i know that girls who have the looks, gain more attention and favoured way more, because others are trying to well goad them into being nice and then you can say hey i know a pretty thing.. I mean shit laa.. …

Greetings from Bubba Gump

Blogging, Food, Just Me

Do some of you remember the Character Bubba Gump in Forrest Gump the movie? I’ll be very honest in saying that I still have not watched the movie properly but I can tell you that Bubba Gump is from that movie and had a significant role. Anyways me, Min Li and Nick Dorian met up last friday at The Curve to try out the new Shrimp restaurant called Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. The restaurant is named after the movie’s main characters Benjamin Bufford “Bubba” Blue and Forrest Gump, who was inspired to go into the shrimping business by Bubba.

So lets a have my review of that short experience. The place is located at the second floor of The Curve along The Walk.

The menu consists mostly of shrimp dishes, but also other seafood, as well as Southern and Cajun cuisine, due to the main character Forrest coming from Alabama. On the company’s menu, the company’s CEO says (quoting from the movie) that “shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, shrimp-kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried, there’s pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. Th-that’s about it.” - Wikipedia

The whole setup of Bubba Gump really reminded of my days eating out at Roadhouse Grill, which was a favourite place of mine till Chillies came about. What gave me the sense of deja vu was the bucket on the tables hehe.

Hehehe see that buckey there with the smiling shrimp - which reminds me of the mafia shrimps in a ‘Sharktale’ lol. Yeha I’m reminded by a lot of things. In Roadhouse Grill it’ll be filled with peanuts and after opening a shell you just throw it on the floor. Here at Bubba Gump, it has some toilet roll (tissue la) and i think ketchup in there. That Chain is hooked up to a pink pong bat which is yet another menu! So cool - don’t have a pic of it though :(

Moving on to the signs on the table. I love the concept of it. See when you want to call a waiter, you don’t do the usual kissy wissy noises you make at the mamak, or raise your hand and wave it about like a mad person. No.. you just flip the sign that says “Stop Forrest Stop”.

This is to tell waiters passing by “Oi, I need some service here” hehe. Then once you are done with whatever demands you request from the waiter, you flip over another sign that says…

“Run Forrest Run”.

Just like in the movie when he was running away from the bullets. This sign means “Ok I’m done, you can move along now” ^_^ Sounds so patronizing in a way lol.

Originally i was flipping through the menu and came across the steak section and Nick flipped me back to the shrimp page immediately, stating. “You are at Bubba Gump.. you order SHRIMP!! not Steak!!!”

OK OK.. i’m sorry.. I was just looking… sheeeeshhhh ^_P

Nick had ordered some alcoholic drink which was called Malibu, Midori, Orange Juice. He ordered the drink because it had jap words in it.. hehehehe so cute.

and a dish with prawns on the side and rice, called I’m Stuffed Shrimp.

02

While Min Li and I shared a pasta … oooh yum. oh yeah it’s called Of Course We Have Scampi!“.

03

The prawns served in one dish goes on for ever.. oooh yeah!! You know how some people like to save their prawns at the side of plate, cause there are only like one or two in a serving? They’ll scoot it to one side and not touch it till the very end.. haha. Here you don’t have to do that haha, if not it’ll be overkill. That’s how many prawns there are in one dish.

I’d go back there again, but it was a tad bit pricey. Overall ambiance and food was good so me likey!!

Days Before Nuffnang Wild Live Party

Art, Just Me

I am a bit slow on the blogging part of late. Missed like three days worth of post.. tsk tsk.. bad me. So as some may know theRoaring My Way to Nuffnang Wild ‘Live’ Blogging. Me, Min Li, Nick Dorian and Tony were trying out darndest to find a some costume for the party and resorted to going to costumes stores too possibly rent one. Sad to say though that the costumes they had were either not to our liking, were to expensive, or just down right ridiculous.

Ooohhhh me hat.

Anyways, because Min Li and I couldn’t find wings that were suitable enough for what we wanted. We decided to make our own wings. I went searching on a number of sites for some wing tutorials and ideas. Found a number too :) which was a great help and made me all the more gung ho to try and make my own fabulous wings.

This was one video that helped a lot.

On Friday… yeah like one day before the event.. we met up at One U to buy the necessary items to make our own insect wings. hehe.

setupwings

So what do we have. We needed 16 Gauge wire, pliers, pantyhose or stockings, some ribbon and some paint.

wings1

Check it out.. things are looking pretty good and coming into ’shape’.

wings2

Tada the nearly finished version of the wings. Now because the pantyhose kept on squeezing the wires I had susah payah shaped. Sigh.. I had originally one 4 wings.. but in the end I had shaped and bent another 4 more wings. Meaning each wing you see above is actually 2 pieces of wire each. This was to make it stronger cause unfortunately the wires I had gotten was not sturdy enough.. crap. Turned out alright though in the end :) So instead of being a butterfly… I became a dragonfly.

mywings

This is the final look of the wings :) and I’m quite happy with them actually. Caused me to sleep at 8am in the morning though but it was a lot of fun making it. The end result of course is a lot better than the making process for i was just really tired out. Hehehe and I love the flowers in the middle….

The breakdown of the materials I needed are like so:

  • Wire: RM 3.90 - Jusco
  • Plier: RM 14.50 - Jusco
  • Pantyhose for wings: RM 9.90 x 2 - SoxWorld
  • Paint: RM 11.50 x 2 - Stencil Works
  • Crystals: RM9.50 - Stencil Works
  • Flowers: RM15.90 - Lovely Lace
  • Ribbons: RM 6 - Lovely Lace

Roughly all together RM93.. a bit of the ouch. But comparing it with the rental of the wings at the costume store the goes for RM100 deposit and RM 25 - RM35 for a pair of wings. I think mine is more worth it. :)

I just don’t know where to keep it now. More pictures for the actual Nuffnang Wild Live Blogging Party coming up in another post!

The Three T’s

Just Me

Tired, Thinking, and Totally LATE!!

I should be doing only one thing right now.. resting for tomorrows shoot

But nooooo.. instead I am up and about trying to make my costume.. sigh…. I was all gung ho about it and now I’m just too sleepy and all lazy to make it… Man… I need sleep my eyes are gonna wear me out.

What To Wear?

Just Me

It’s now 1pm as I’m typing out this post. Another 5 more hours before my tummy gets filled and my eyes get teary from a movie at J.W.W. Marriot. Nick Dorian was kind enough to bring me for the Nuffnang event “Fishing My Way To Made of Honour” and of course i would watch my favourite McDreamy in a movie ^_^, especially after watching the finale of Grey’s Anatomy, i forgive him hehe.

So I’ll be watching the Made Of Honour tonight and getting an 8 course dinner.. woots!

Made Of Honour

Hehe.. see i did try playing that stupid fish game.. but after  a while i got bored and gave up at a super lousy score of 7000 over. Which is nothing in comparison to some people who got 19000… MY GOSH!! How long did you people play that game??

The wonderful thing about the event is that it’s gotta be in formal attire, which is like prom night .. wooo hooo. When was the last time i get to play dress up. However here I am, now with a dilemma that every girl will have for at least a good week or two days the least.

WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR???????

Last night I was going through my wardrobe and I managed to find two dresses which i have not worn for a longgggg time or have not not worn at all.

Choice number one, the little black dress. Here’s a simple long gown with a halterneck at the top and a small slit at the side. Elegant, neat, doesn’t need much work, just wear some bling, do up the hair and i’m done. The look? smokey eye effect and all sultry… hmmm think think..

Black Dress

Or choice number two. Shall i go with something completely off and wear a cultural thing? I bought this - at of all places.. - Low Yat haha. It’s a Kimono of some sort. What I really like about it, is it just satisfies my fantasy of being Japanese for a while haha, plus i won’t have to worry bout showing my arms or getting cold. I really like the dress, but i almost find the colours a bit too much.

Kimono

When I asked Mister G, what does he think. This was the conversation.

Mister G: “Why are you dressing or changing so much? I thought you only dress up for me?”

Me: Well yeah but you never bother to look or compliment me, so I gotta dress up for ME sometimes

Mister G:…. ok wear the Kimono…

Me: Yeah?

Mister G: Yeah.. at least you are covered up..

Shhhhhheeeeeeeeeshhhhh, what can i say to that? So what do you think? Kimono or black dress?
