Tony was the person who mentioned to me about getting the latest Real Player a while back and ever since then I have been happily downloading a number of youtube videos that I would like to keep. However the problem with downloading them is that they are saved as FLV format, which is usually only playable with either VLC player or with Real Player itself.

So say i need to edit something, or i want to convert it into a different format so that it can be watched across all computers. The most well used video format I would think is safest to go with is either AVI or WMV. Before on my old desktop i did have a converter to convert the files from FLV -> AVI. But I don’t have the program anymore, so best bet is to find stuff online.

Here is my list of the available Online Video Converters out there. These are just the ones i prefer and find reliable.

1. Vixy.net
   Vixy was the first one i started using and it has served me well. I’m happy to also say that it has finally come out with it’s latest desktop version converter.

   

2. Media Converter
   Media converter is another one which i enjoy using, mostly because it is so clean in its look and you can also customise how your end video product will be.
   

   

3. Zamzar
   I experimented with Zamzar last year and it’s not too bad but not a complete fav of mine because it was just a bit slow. It also allows you to convert video files from your pc online and then download it once it’s done.
   

   

   
   

4. Flv To
   I haven’t tried this one out yet, but it looks promising

   

   
   

5. Catch Video
   Catch video’s layout is very very friendly showing all the type of conversions available straight on the homepage. They seem to be doing a tie up with the social platform Moli at the moment too. Don’t know how that is working out.
   

   

   
   

6. Mux.am
   Mux ia another one that is easy to use. Similar to Zamzar, it also gives you the option to convert files form either your pc or straight off from the web. You can even send videos to your phone. Mux also looks to be another video community.
   

   

There you have it my happy list of video converters. Tell me if you see an even better one out there.

For a while now I have been using Intense Debate to help me manage my comments and also reply back to them faster. I am a very veyr happy user, although it was a bit unstable at the start - in terms of importing and exporting comments. Now I can safely say that the it’s working like a charm. Why do I love it even more is because I get to reply back to my friends via email instead of having to go straight to blog and reply via there.

On Intense Debate there is this little thing at the side of your profile picture icon that will show what is reputation like.

Since they have the reputation/ comment voting (please allow me to be happy and narcissistic for a while :P ) I was quite delighted to see my reputation points go up. Reason being cause I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it go up. Seeing it just at 0p was quite .. well.. sad

Came to a point i usually just flick my eyes over from the point system and can’t be bothered with it. Till i actually saw a wonderful green on it and this is what I saw..

To be honest.. i still don’t quite get how it went up.. So if anyone could be so kinds as to explain.. Much obliged

People, Firefox your one and only favourite web browser is trying to set a Guinness World Record For Download Day 2008.

They are attempting to set a world record for the most software downloads in 24 hours and will occur on Firefox 3 launch day. All you have to do is pledge that you will download Firefox 3. Meaning in 24 hours, we as lovers of Firefox have to do our part and download the latest web browser that will be launched the same day as Download Day.

So far no dates are confirmed yet but it’s set to be in June. This month people!

Let’s spread the Firefox and not only just get a new world record but make web browsing even better. How will you know when to download? Just pledge yourself on Spread Firefox.com. Then they will send you reminder emails and notify you of the exact date.

At the moment 931,312 have signed up pledging they will download. Last year Firefox 2 had 1.6 million downloads on their launch day. This year they are aiming for 5 million… WTH!!?

Now peeps they aren’t exaclty that close yet to their target. Join forces with those of us who have pledge to download it. Chop chop.

Not many people know that I’ve made another blog entitled “The Stage Calls” and it’s no wonder because I haven’t spoken about it yet on this blog.

Reason I made the blog is because I got fed up with the fact that there aren’t many places out there that will inform you about auditions. It’s even worse when you’re friends who are in this together with you don’t even know about workshops or auditions. Hence I made this blog thestagecalls.com to help those like me and my peers who are trying to get involved in performing arts.

So I’m very pleased to say I got it up the way I had hoped it would look.

Wheee!!! It’s finally up properly, with everything from categories to what not running as it should. Just maybe a few more tweaks and I’ll be a happy bird.

There were days long ago, when we did not have to go through so much hassle in order to through a comment out to somebody. I believe it started out with forums, where people will ask questions, discuss and talk to one another.

But to possible bots aka A.I. aka Artificial intelligent beings roaming about, people in front of the screens decided to create challenge-response authentication. What that you say?

Usually in order to do so you don’t need to fill in a “are you human catch phrase” to prove that you are human and not some “I Robot” being that is trying to take over the world by downloading stuff from other people…sheesh.

So there were the days of just type in normal words.

Right so those were the days of when it was still easy to see what they were trying to force us to type out. Those above aren’t so bad. They are still readable. That is.. until i saw this.

What the heck?? Cats? Find the cats hidden in the letters? Worse of all, the letters aren’t even normal letters. No. They are screwed up letters!! Screwed up letters that we have to guess on the alphabet and also whether if i see a darn cat in that letter. My gosh! Why laaaa must they make things so the difficult. Gimme a simple code and that’s enough-i’ll answer.. … do they need to bring the cats in?

Sigh for all the challenge-response authentication I think the cat really was the most OTT one. Peh.
