This was just a few days ago. A very close friend of my boyfriend’s brother had passed away due to the recklessness of a bus driver. My heart and prayers goes out to this young girl, her family and dear friends who are now mourning for her. This post is dedicated to all of them and to Nian Ning along with this song by Guy Sebastian “My Beautiful Friend”.

Her name is Lee Nian Ning (this was her life story), a 21 year old who had so much ahead of her in life. She had just come back from University of New South Wales in Australia to visit family and friends. She was on a bus, Konsortium, from Penang heading down to KL, when the tragedy hit.
This is quoted from the papers today. You can read the full article here.
“Nian Ning, 21, a Public Service Department (PSD) scholar at the University of New South Wales in Australia who was on her way to visit friends in Kuala Lumpur, was among three passengers who perished when the driver lost control of the bus and slammed into a divider.
“We learnt that the driver had 13 summonses against him. Why had the company not screened him and realised that he was not competent to drive that bus?”
I am appalled, extremely appalled at this. Time and time again there have been so many bus crashes in the past year, how can the authorities out there not do anything about this!! And the police and whatever other authorities are saying that want to put a stop to crimes and what not. What kind of service is this?
This is from the blog Not so Little Girl In A Reverie”
“According to the survivors, the top deck was swaying left and right as the driver was going really fast. Some passengers at the bottom deck saw the driver smsing a lot and driving really fast in the heavy rain. After awhile the passengers felt something amiss and saw the bus driver STAND UP suddenly(while the bus was moving!) and split seconds later, the passengers screamed really loudly and the bus spun three times, hit the divider and careened to the opposite highway where an oncoming MPV crashed into the back of the bus. Nian Ning and Mohd Zailani were sitting at the back row. I’m not sure about the other chinese boy who also passed away…..To add insult to the injury, the bus driver only sustained a broken right leg. “
How can you even hire somebody who has 13 summons? Doesn’t that even strike to the company at all that he is not qualified to drive? Is this the kind of people that our country is producing? Is this the kind of service that we are expected to receive as citizens that put our trust into the hands of these people?
The authorities are suppose to be keeping us safe, cause that is their job. But how can we feel safe when we are putting our lives into the hands of those who are reckless and worse still no one to even filter those who are reckless. It is irresponsible and terrible. How can the rest of us even think about traveling anywhere via public transport when there is the high possibility of an accident?
How many people have to lose their lives until this can be resolved? How many more crashes must prove to those in charge that need to do something drastically fast? Talk is cheap and easy. Don’t just put in the papers that you are doing something about it. REALLY do something about this.
Dear all, as of here, I refuse to ride a bus from that company Konsortium. It used to be one of the most recommended bus to travel on and after all that has happened, I highly doubt it is worth my life or anyone’s life to ride on these buses. In fact I am going to boycott every single bus that is frequently driving to and fro between the states.
It is up to you guys if you want to, but i urge you not to take buses anymore. But it is time, that a stand is made to say that these bus crashes have to STOP! Hope you all agree with me to fight for justice against the bus companies.
Please post this on your blog now to help:
Chung Lern and Nian Ning’s families would like all families and friends of the victims, dead or alive, in the Slim River Bus Crash to come forward and join them in taking action against the bus company. Stand up to seek justice for these three innocent individuals, who were all so young and full of life.
If you have a blog, please call out to ANYONE who
knows someone who survived or did not survive
the crash to come forward to join the Lee family.
Make a huge difference, make a huge fuss.
For now, you may contact Lee Chung Lern at chunglern@gmail.com or preferably on his handphone at 012-6670368.
